The Object of the Bill is to define clearly which contracts for or on behalf of the public service may disqualify a person from becoming or remaining a member of Parliament. The wording of the relevant provisions of the Constitution is being changed to make those provisions correspond more clearly to the interpretation given to them by the Courts.
