British High Commissioner Mr Stuart William Gill paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia.
The two dignitaries referred to the excellent friendly and historic relations that exist between Malta and the United Kingdom.
Speaker Farrugia and the High Commissioner Gill discussed issues of mutual interest, such as the follow-up of the Brexit referendum, particularly the triggering of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, and the international situation in general, mainly the situation in Libya.
Reference was made to the Commonwealth, including the recent election of Speaker Farrugia as the Chairman of the Small Branches of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
The Parliamentary dimension of the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union also featured in the meeting.
