Sitting No. 485
06 Jul 2021
The objects and reasons of this Bill are to provide an electronic monitoring system for sentenced persons with a view to monitoring the movements of a person subject to the electronic monitoring order by means of a secure electronic device and to provide for matters connected therewith or ancillary thereto.
The gist of the Bill provides that electronic monitoring can be issued in accordance with and Order by the Courts of Justice or by the Chief Executive of the Correctional Services Agency, or else by the Parole Board.
This Bill should serve to free certain individuals from the correctional facilities, thus facilitating their reintegration into society,
while providing reassurance to the community and victims of crime.
