Bill No. 89 - Maltese Citizenship (Amendment) Bill
Objects and Reasons
The main Objects of the Bill are to remove differences in the criteria for the naturalisation of Commonwealth and non-Commonwealth citizens, and to provide for the naturalisation of certain persons of Maltese descent living abroad. The Bill makes mandatory the restoration of citizenship to persons who lose their citizenship in certain circumstances.
