Grievance

The Authorities are bending backwards to accommodate and legalise all the illegalities done at 11, 12, 13, Misrah iz-Zjara tal-Papa c/w Triq il-Kappillan Magri c/w, Triq il-Madonna tal-Ghar, Mellieha, through PA/04061/22 & PA/06161/23. The Church cannot control their tenant. The Local Council is useless. We have a voice and we must be heard. Please sign this petition and share for others to sign, so that all the illegal tables and chairs placed at Misrah iz-Zjara tal-Papa are removed. These applications should not even be considered since the same owner already has Starbucks and is taking advantage there. This square has been deprived of a public transport connection, mature trees were removed for no good reason, the police station closed and now is being given for free for the profit of one! The Mellieha community deserves better. Please give us back what is ours!

Wherefore I/we respectfully request the House of Representatives to

order the Planning Authority to revoke planning permit PA/04061/22 since conditions in the same permit were breached and the restaurant has been operating daily since August. They should also refuse the minor amendment submitted on hte same permit and the new application PA/06161/23.

Closing remarks

We do not want tables and chairs in an open public space in the heart of Mellieha's Urban Conservation Area, the services on the roof are horrific and not according to later approved drawings. These also should be removed and placed internally. We demand more respect for our UCA!
