This morning, Speaker Anġlu Farrugia received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, Ahmad Bamarni. 

Speaker Farrugia recalled the Ambassador’s visit in September and referred to friendly relations that have existed between the two countries for more than four and a half decades.

The two dignitaries discussed the situation in Iraq, particularly the liberation of the city of Mosul from the Da’esh, as well as other conflicts in the region. 

Speaker Farrugia reiterated Malta’s stand behind the Iraqi people and the authorities during these difficult moments, and its continued support in humanitarian and development aid.
