Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia has this morning received a courtesy visit by Ambassador of the Republic of Ukraine Yevhen Perelygin.
Speaker Farrugia and Ambassador Perelygin highlighted the good bilateral relations that exist between the two countries. These relations have been enhanced by various high-level exchanges.
The two dignitaries referred to issues of mutual interest, particularly the formation of a Parliamentary Friendship Group, and co-operation between the Maltese and Ukrainian Parliamentary Delegations to the Council of Europe.
They also talked about the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, including the Parliamentary dimension of this Presidency, as well as the relations between the EU and Ukraine.
The Ambassador was accompanied by the First Secretary at the Embassy of Ukraine in Rome Mr Serhii Shevcuk.
