PR170858 - The Speaker receives the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

Speaker Anġlu Farrugia received a courtesy visit by the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA) Christine Muttonen. The two dignitaries spoke of the excellent relations that exist between the Parliament of Malta and the OSCE PA. They highlighted the contribution of the Maltese Parliamentary Delegation to the OSCE PA, which has always participated actively in the various sessions, meetings, conferences and seminars organised by the said Parliamentary Assembly. They also recalled Malta’s role with regard to the inclusion of the Mediterranean Chapter in the Helsinki Final Act of 1975, and acknowledged the importance of the OSCE PA’s Special Representative on Mediterranean Affairs. Speaker Farrugia and President Muttonen also discussed issues of mutual interest such as the problems of migration, terrorism and human rights. Christine Muttonen was accompanied by Secretary General of the OSCE PA Roberto Montella and Senior Adviser to the President of the OSCE PA Lukas Mussi. Also present were Godfrey Farrugia MP and Frederick Azzopardi MP, Head and Member of Malta’s Delegation to the OSCE PA respectively.
