The Object of this Bill is -

(i) to introduce the social reforms announced in the Budget for 1978 /79 regarding the rates of assistance and adjustments in household entitlement to social assistance;
(ii) to provide for the payment of social assistance on certain conditions to a head of household where a member of his household is not eligible for registration for employment with the Department of Labour and Emigration; and
(iii) to provide for other minor and consequential amendments.
